The Breweries

Often referred to as microbreweries, Irish craft breweries produce small quantities of beer, typically less than large-scale breweries. They are predominantly independently owned and are celebrated for their enthusiasm, innovative flavours, and diverse brewing techniques. In Ireland, the craft beer industry has experienced significant growth over the past decade.

According to a 2017 Bord Bia report, the number of production microbreweries increased from just 15 in 2012 to 72 in 2017, marking a 500% growth.

By 2018, every county in Ireland had at least one craft brewery, highlighting the widespread appeal and reach of craft beer across the nation.

According to Bord Bia‘s 2023 Craft Beer and Cider Report, there are currently 79 independent microbreweries operating in the Republic of Ireland.
